BUILDING THE EVIDENCE BASE FOR IMPROVED STEM LEARNING
Principals as STEM Leaders (PASL) offers three high-quality, flexible professional learning programs. Each program is designed to foster the development of leadership capabilities and is aimed at supporting Australian school principals in their role as leaders of STEM teaching and learning in their school.
Program 1.
Leading Quality STEM Teaching and Learning
Discover the first of a three-part series of professional learning programs specially designed for principals to build on their STEM leadership capability.
Explore core concepts surrounding leadership, and the nature and importance of STEM in the Australian context.
Program 2.
Whole of School Development Through STEM
The second instalment of the PASL three-part series of professional learning programs specially created for school principals.
This program will cover key concepts surrounding leadership, the nature and importance of STEM, and the implications behind developing STEM capabilities. Specialist topics that underpin a whole of school approach to capability building will also be explored.
Program 3.
Equity, Diversity, Aspirations for, and Sustainability of STEM Initiatives
The third and final instalment of the PASL series of professional learning programs.
In this program, key concepts surrounding effective leadership and implications for developing STEM capabilities will be discussed. There is a particular focus on topics that underpin the success and sustainability of STEM teaching and learning.
Evidence & Research
The capabilities that underpin the three programs are illustrated through five case studies. These case studies provide insight into the role that leadership played in improving STEM teaching and learning outcomes in each school, including the challenges, opportunities, and key decisions that were taken in progressing strategies for success.
